Know which platform package you are choosing
The project’s current download component describes the macOS package as Apple Silicon arm64 only and requires macOS 11 or later. An Intel Mac does not meet that stated architecture. The Linux option points to a Docker image for x86_64 (amd64) systems and is described as a local deployment of the web version, not as the same native desktop package offered for Windows.
If your machine falls outside those boundaries, use the hosted browser build rather than treating an unrelated repack as an official port. The project recommends Chrome 114 or newer for online play; Edge is another listed choice, while Firefox may have compatibility issues.
macOS route
Open the official download page and choose macOS. Confirm that the live release number matches the project’s current metadata before downloading. Extract the archive into a normal Applications or Games location rather than running from the ZIP.
The project download page includes a quarantine-removal path for the first-launch “damaged app” message. That command changes a macOS security attribute, so use only the exact instructions shown on the project page after confirming the archive source. Do not paste a similar command from a random video or apply it broadly to an entire Downloads folder.
- Apple Silicon (arm64), not Intel x86_64.
- macOS 11.0 or later.
- Current archive selected from the project download page.
- Manual save export stored outside the app folder.
If macOS blocks the app, use the narrow project instruction for that app only. Avoid commands that disable Gatekeeper for the whole computer.
Linux Docker route
The linked Docker image is intended for x86_64 Linux and other systems that can run Docker. It serves the web build locally. Before starting, read the image page for its current tag and run command, then bind only the ports you need. A local container is still software running on your machine; keep Docker updated and avoid mounting sensitive home directories into it.
Because this is the web version, browser storage behavior matters. Export progress from the player profile before replacing a container, clearing browser site data, or changing the hostname used to open the game. A different origin can look like an empty profile even when another browser origin still holds data.
Hosted browser route
For the shortest cross-platform route, open play.pvzge.com in a current Chromium-based browser. The official requirement page recommends Chrome 114 or newer. Allow the first load to finish before refreshing; the game has a much larger asset footprint than an ordinary article page.
Browser play is convenient for testing compatibility but relies on browser storage and site permissions. Export after meaningful progress. Do not use private browsing for a long-running profile, and do not clear cookies and site data until you have a recent export.
Move progress carefully
The project FAQ describes export and import through the player profile. Use that in-game path instead of moving unidentified browser databases or application folders. Name each export with the platform, release, and date so you can tell which copy is newest.
The download page warns that archives from differently packaged website and Chinese netdisk versions may not inherit automatically. When changing platform or packaging, assume a manual export may be needed and confirm the new profile before removing the old environment.
Questions players ask
Does the macOS build support Intel Macs?
The current project download text says Apple Silicon arm64 only. Use browser play or another supported machine for an Intel Mac.
Is Docker a native Linux desktop port?
The project describes it as local deployment of the web version. It should not be presented as the Windows desktop build compiled for Linux.
Can I keep one save across platforms?
Use the profile Export and Import controls. Automatic inheritance can differ between packaging methods and browser origins.
